The objective of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of shots, angles, and movement techniques commonly used in the movies.  Watch the Dirty Vegas video on the song “Days Go By”, then create a SHOT LOG/STORYBOARD that labels the first fifteen shots used in the video.  Listed below are the abbreviations for these shots and angles that you can use on the activity sheet.

Shot Type Abbreviations

  • Extreme long shot (ELS)
  • Long shot (LS)
  • Full shot (FS)
  • 3/4 shot (3/4)
  • Mid shot (MS)
  • Close up (CU)
  • Point of view shot (POV)
  • Over the shoulder shot (OTS)
  • Extreme close up (ECU)
  • High angle (HIGH)
  • Low angle (LOW)
  • Canted angle (CANTED)
  • Pan (PAN)
  • Tilt (TILT)
  • Tracking (TRACK)
  • Zoom in / zoom out (Z-IN/Z-OUT)

Your end product (the shot log/storyboard sheet) will be marked on overall neatness and accuracy.  Be sure to include any text and audio notes on the side of your storyboard.
