OVERVIEW:
It has been said that the eyes are the window to the soul. They are the tell-tale sign when we’ve done something wrong. Yet they can also be shrouded in mystery.
Clearly the eyes are so many things, and in the context of a portrait, most professional photographers find the eyes are key to either making or breaking a picture. In this project you will be shooting a number of photographs that focus on the eye, and submitting your best pictures to the class contest. The class will vote on the best photograph and the photographer will receive a fabulous prize—with fame and fortune certainly following soon after.
The deadline for submission is Friday, November 11, 2011!
RULES OF THE CONTEST:
- Only original photographs are acceptable, meaning you must shoot the picture personally!
- You must shoot at least FIVE photographs that have an eye as the focal point of the shot. Carefully consider the composition of your picture, especially angle, focus and lighting.
- Photos should be uploaded using iPhoto, where they can be digitally enhanced using the program’s software. If you wish to use Photoshop, try to keep the special effects to a minimum and concentrate on traditional photographic techniques such as composition, focus, light exposure, etc.
- Choose your BEST photograph and submit it to Mr. Cox on his USB key. Please label your file as STUDENT NAME-INTRO PHOTO CONTEST.
- The slideshow of photos will be played in the student gathering area; judging will take place in class, and will be conducted by you, the students.
